Marianne is back with a blue tear streaming down her face.

The emblematic work of American street artist Shepard Fairey - alias Obey Giant -

"Liberty, Equality, Fraternity", located on Boulevard Vincent Auriol in the heart of this open-air street-art museum, has been restored and modified.

Now his Marianne is crying.

Last December, red tears were added to his work.

The action had been claimed by a collective denouncing the security policy of the government, recalls Le Parisien.

The face has now been restored by its creator.

"I am on the side of people who oppose injustices"

“I created this image originally in response to the Bataclan and Paris attacks of November 13, 2015 (…) the image, the painting had no political bias.

I saw what happened on my wall, I read the reasons behind this act.

I am on the side of people who oppose injustices.

Especially when it comes to human rights ”, explains Shepard Fairey in a video, in which he justifies the addition of this blue tear.

In addition, he also announced the edition of a silkscreen print of this modified Marianne, all of the profits from the sale of which will be donated in full to the "Restos du cœur".
