- Where we previously saw a book turn into an audiobook, you now write directly for the audiobook format and then, sometimes, publish it as a paperback book, says Julia Pennlert, literary scholar with digital focus and researcher at the Library Academy.

It can affect how writers work and how stories emerge, she believes.

- Authors can be commissioned to write a work that can be tested on an audience.

It is similar to the production of other media content that we have seen on, for example, Netflix and HBO where you are a team of writers who write a certain story, says Julia Pennlert.

The audiobook industry is also discussing how AI could become a tool for producing cheaper and faster audiobooks.

- By letting different types of robot voices read in books, you can create a reader, says Julia Pennlert.
