Behind the gate to an industrial premises in Haninge, the police will discover in 2019 a factory for the production of amphetamine, something that leads to a seizure of just over 60 kilos of amphetamine and a high-profile prosecution for serious drug offenses.

But in the same room, large consignments of mobile phones have also been handled, which were sold to the American mobile distributor Brightstar.

It is one of several links between serious organized crime and some of the companies involved in the tangle of suspected billion-dollar mobile phone fraud that is currently unfolding.

Together with two fraud experts, SVT has mapped the companies in the loop and the people behind the companies.

- It is a blissful mix of people that we have not seen before but it is mixed up with people who are either criminals themselves or have relationships with professional criminals, says Peter Forsman, fraud expert at Fidi.

And the drug factory is not the only example.

The company Markant has had representatives who have been part of the criminal motorcycle gang Hells Angels.

The company trades in IP telephony and in 2019 had a reported turnover of SEK 3.6 billion.

The company has now gone bankrupt and is required to pay 580 million by the Swedish Tax Agency.

Six out of ten top bankruptcies

From Markant, there are connections to the company Novacode, which SVT reported on earlier.

It also recently went bankrupt with a huge debt to the Swedish Tax Agency of approximately SEK 800 million.

Novacode's owners have previously been convicted of both assault and drug offenses.

He is currently in custody in his absence on suspicion of serious eco-crimes in the mobile loot.

The Economic Crimes Authority does not want to comment on the individual examples, but confirms that they have seen the connections.

All companies and those responsible reject the accusations.

Markants 'and Novacode's bankruptcies are so large in numbers that they end up at the top of the last year's largest bankruptcies, in terms of companies' sales, according to a survey conducted by SVT with information from the credit information company Creditsafe and the Swedish Tax Agency.

- I would not say that you have lost control of economic crime in Sweden, but you definitely have to realize the magnitude, says fraud expert Anders Björkenheim on Accessus to SVT.
