Russia has created a test system to identify the "British" strain of COVID-19

"The Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor has developed and registered a test system to detect the mutation of the coronavirus N501Y (the so-called" British "strain)," - said in a statement.

It is noted that this system "avoids false positives when detecting mutations for samples with a very high viral load."

"The new test system quickly detects the presence of a mutant strain, which is realized due to a special selection of oligonucleotides for effective amplification of the British mutation, and is designed for the maximum concentration of viruses," the department added.

Earlier, Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko said that test systems are being developed in Russia for faster monitoring of coronavirus infection COVID-19.
