  • Galicia.Alberto Núñez Feijóo asks the PP for "a reflection" on the poor Catalan result

"Objectively, it is a very bad result. We must do the analysis of how it is possible that we have not given reasons to a large part of constitutionalism to go to vote."

The national spokesman of the PP and mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, has two recipes for the poor result of his party in the Catalan elections.

The first, "examine the causes" and make self-criticism.

The second, "of course, remedy" as soon as possible to return to "excite" the "constitutional" electorate that preferred to vote for other formations or stay at home rather than choose the PP ballot.

In a session of the Leadership Classroom of the Atlantic Institute and the Francisco de Vitoria University, Martínez-Almeida has loaded the ink on the bulky abstention of the Catalans.

"Only 52% of the Catalans voted. 48%, the majority constitutionalists, found no reasons to vote. That requires us to question ourselves about how it is possible that we have not managed to get excited," stressed the mayor of Madrid.

In the colloquium, moderated by EL MUNDO columnist

Javier Redondo

, Martínez-Almeida analyzed together with the former Prime Minister José María Aznar the main consequences of the Catalan appointment with the polls.

In his opinion, the

Vox

sorpasso

is only a parenthesis, since "the only one capable of bringing together the voters who went to Vox and those who went to Ciudadanos, programmatically and ideologically, is the PP."

The 'sorpasso' of Vox

For the

popular

spokesperson

, "Vox is interested in Pedro Sánchez, and Sánchez is interested in Vox," and that is why they get feedback.

"Sánchez prefers a strong Vox than a strong PP. For him it is good news that Vox has 11 seats and the PP, three."

But there he has also included some self-criticism: "That has to make us, the PP, think first."

Aznar wanted to intervene to make two considerations about Catalonia.

The first, that "it is an evident fact that separatism has grown and constitutionalism has regressed, and has its logic when separatism sees that its actions do not generate consequences and has no reason to be discouraged in its objectives."

The second: "When you have barely 25% of the electoral roll, I would be prudent in expressing maximum objectives for them and for everyone. Raising the breakdown of Spain sounds at least a little exaggerated," he added.

"There are no three marks in the center right"

Finally, Martínez-Almeida has urged his team not to abandon the classic course.

"The moment we ignore our principles and our convictions, we will be doomed to failure," he warned, before calling for a recast of the vote.

"There are no three brands in the center-right. We have to assume it ourselves or the voters will force us to assume it," the national spokesperson of the

popular

has once again warned

.

"The PP has the responsibility of the PP, which is the one who leads the space and we are the only ones capable of bringing together a transversal project of everything that is to the right of the PSOE".
