Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - The Dax rose moderately at the start of the new trading week.

But so far it has not been enough for another record.

In early trading, the leading index gained 0.36 percent to 14,100.72 points.

A week ago it had reached its previous record high of 14 169 points.

In the further course of the week it then hovered around the round mark of 14,000 points.

In contrast to the Dax, the MDax again reached a record for medium-sized values on Monday, most recently advancing 0.77 percent to 32,845.89 points.

The leading index of the Eurozone EuroStoxx 50 showed an increase of 0.4 percent.

The recent rise in interest rates in the USA and in Germany and the fear of rising inflation left investors cold.

Impulses from overseas markets are rare on Monday.

In the USA it is a public holiday and in China and Hong Kong there is no further trading due to the New Year celebrations.

In Japan, the leading index Nikkei-225 closed above the 30,000 mark for the first time in more than 30 years.
