Cortina d'Ampezzo (dpa) - Andreas Sander is the next German ski racer to win a medal at the World Cup in Cortina d'Ampezzo.

The athlete from Ennepetal was only 0.01 seconds behind Vincent Kriechmayr from Austria in silver after the 20 top drivers on the descent.

Third at the time was Swiss Beat Feuz.

A total of 42 drivers were on the start list.

On his comeback, Thomas Dreßen, like the favorite Dominik Paris, botched the decisive part of the route and was too late at the finish.

Super-G runner-up world champion Romed Baumann also did not get an ideal drive and also fell at the finish line.

He didn't hurt himself badly.
