The Spring Festival of 2021 is of great significance to Zhang Jiayu, a 60-year-old Taiwanese compatriot.

On New Year’s Eve, the stolen Buddha head at Tianlongshan Grottoes in Shanxi, which had been lost overseas for nearly a century, returned with a C position during the Spring Festival Gala.

And Zhang Jiayu also returned to his ancestral home, Shanxi, to spend his first "Hometown Year".

"The Buddha returned, and I am back." Zhang Jiayu expressed emotion when interviewed by reporters on the 12th.

"It's different from the Spring Festival, the strong nostalgia, this is the sense of belonging that my hometown brings to me, I am a Taiwanese, and even a native of Shanxi." Zhang Jiayu said, seeing the return of cultural relics from his hometown, that kind of pride spontaneously arises .

Also this year, he and his wife decided to settle in Shanxi.

On New Year's Eve, Zhang Jiayu and his colleagues went to the company, took out the Spring Festival couplets prepared early and pasted them on the company gate, and also posted a lot of blessings on the walls of the corridor.

They stood in front of the door with the word "Fu" and took a group photo to record the first Spring Festival they spent on the mainland.

In the evening, invited by his cousin, Zhang Jiayu took his wife and Taiwanese friends who stayed in Shanxi to celebrate the New Year, and went to his cousin’s house for a New Year’s Eve dinner.

Making dumplings, talking about home-style talks, watching the Spring Festival Gala... Zhang Jiayu said frankly that this year is the most meaningful year of reunion for the New Year in his hometown, with family members by his side and friends gathering.

In 1990, Zhang Jiayu took a flight from Taiwan to the mainland, and returned to his ancestral home, Shanxi, to reunite with relatives on the mainland.

After a lapse of 30 years, Zhang Jiayu, who has "landed" and started his business for 20 years, once again returned to this long-worn land to start a new business and start a new life.

That night, Zhang Jiayu looked at the old photos of his cousin's house and was very moved.

“The photos were taken when I returned to Shanxi with my Taiwanese family. Each photo carries the feelings of hometown. Looking back now, I can still feel the mood at that time. I did not expect that I will be able to return to work and live here many years later.”

"Mainland China’s New Year’s Eve food is similar to Taiwan’s, with chicken, duck, etc." Zhang Jiayu said. His cousin’s family prepared a hearty New Year’s Eve dinner. He ate a lot of pork dumplings, homemade jelly, and the first time he had it Shanxi assorted hot pot, I really like the crispy meatballs inside.

Zhang Jiayu shared the pictures and videos he took with his family in Taiwan, and also communicated New Year greetings with them through video connections.

"On this special holiday, I am very happy to see Taiwanese family members through the video. Everyone congratulates each other. When the epidemic improves, we will return to Taiwan to visit relatives and friends. In the new year, the health of family members on both sides of the strait is the most important."

Zhang Jiayu told reporters that today is the first day of the first month of the lunar calendar. The weather in Taiyuan is very good, so I made an appointment with relatives and friends to take a look around.

After watching the Spring Festival Gala, as a Shanxi native, I have to learn more about local cultural relics.

Originally planned to visit the Shanxi Museum, it was temporarily closed for the holidays, so I had to wait for it to open.

When time is abundant, he will go to the Tianlongshan Grottoes.
