Berlin (dpa / bb) - The Berlin House of Representatives comes together today for a special meeting on the corona pandemic.

Specifically, the MPs want to debate the extension of the lockdown to March 7th and the country's updated infection control ordinance.

A law passed in January gives the House of Representatives more say in the Senate's policy to contain the corona pandemic.

Parliament can request changes to regulations.

On Thursday, the Senate decided to extend the corona lockdown by three weeks to March 7th.

Many shops, restaurants as well as cultural and leisure facilities will remain closed to contain the pandemic.

There is an exception for hairdressers: You can start again from March 1st.

The gradual opening of schools will start on February 22nd.

For students in grades 1 to 3, alternating lessons in half the class size are planned.

You will be taught in divided study groups alternately at school and at home with the help of digital solutions.

The day-care center will also be gradually ramped up again from February 22nd.
