The winter cold has caused the debate about Swedish energy policy to heat up.

Electricity prices have skyrocketed in southern Sweden and during certain periods, Swedish electricity has not been enough but has led to Sweden being forced to import electricity from, among other places, coal-fired power plants in Poland and Denmark.

It was a mistake to close the nuclear power reactors in Ringhals, claims Ulf Kristersson, who wants Sweden to once again invest in future nuclear power.

- I want nuclear power to be part of the pure Swedish electricity mix.

Sweden will be part of the countries that develop small-scale advanced reactors that cost less and can be locally based.

Per Bolund, on the other hand, believes that a future investment in nuclear power is foolhardy.

- If you do not trust me, you can listen to the former energy policy spokesman for the Moderates Mikael Odenberg who says that what Ulf is doing this year is pure populism.

He says that no man in the full use of his mind would want to invest in nuclear power because it is too expensive.

The renewable is about to take over.
