Berlin (dpa) - Sports director Arne Friedrich only wants to hold talks with winter newcomer Sami Khedira after Hertha BSC has successfully remained in the Bundesliga.
“Of course we want us to have a successful season,” said Friedrich on Sunday in the “Doppelpass” program from Sport1.
"Then Sami and I will sit down and talk about further plans," emphasized the former professional who had brought the 2014 world champion from Juventus Turin to the capital for five months on the last day of the winter transfer period.
It is conceivable that the 33-year-old Khedira could play an important role in the hoped-for rebuilding of the Berlin club.
Ultimately, Hertha BSC wants to establish itself in the fight for international ranks and not in the fight against relegation as this season as the current table-15.
Since his engagement, Khedira has made two appearances under coach Pal Dardai, and Khedira prepared the equalizer in the 1-1 draw on Saturday against his hometown club VfB Stuttgart.
