▲ Police deployed on the New York subway

Two people were killed in a serial weapon attack against homeless people on the New York subway.

A man who appears to be homeless was found dead in a subway car bound for Queens, New York at around 11 pm on the 12th local time.

The victim's neck and torso were left with scars from the weapon.

Two hours later, at around 1 am on the 13th, a female homeless man in his 40s was found dead at 207th Street Station in Manhattan, about 40km away, and a homeless man in his 40s, sleeping on the stairs of 181st Street Station, was attacked by a weapon at around 1:30 a.m.

This victim was taken to a hospital and saved.

Earlier on the morning of the 12th, a homeless man in his 60s was attacked with a weapon at a subway station.

The police believe that four consecutive attacks against the homeless within 24 hours were carried out by the same person.

The New York Post reported that police arrested the suspect on the afternoon of the 13th.

The suspect's identity and motive for the crime have not been confirmed.

The New York subway has increased violent crime since the coronavirus outbreak.

After the Corona 19 crisis, the number of train passengers decreased to the previous level of 30%, and the interior of the subway station was also slack, which contributed to the increase in crime, the police analyzed.

New York City Police increased the number of police officers deployed to subway stations and other places by 500 shortly after a series of attacks against homeless people.
