Ebola outbreak in Guinea has caused 3 deaths

  Xinhua News Agency, Abidjan, February 14 (Reporter Zheng Yangzi) Conakry: Guinea Health Minister Remy Rama issued a statement on the 14th that the Ebola epidemic has recently occurred in southeastern Guinea, and 7 cases have been reported. Confirmed cases, 3 of them died.

  The statement said that the epidemic occurred in Nzerekore Province in southeastern Guinea. The confirmed cases included 3 women and 4 men.

On February 1, a local nurse died after developing Ebola symptoms, and some of her relatives subsequently developed symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, and high fever.

Relevant health institutions in Guinea have confirmed 7 cases of Ebola through analysis of samples submitted for inspection, and 3 of them have died.

  The Ministry of Health of Guinea will restart multiple Ebola diagnosis and treatment centers in Nzerekore Province and dispatch two medical expert teams to isolate the affected area and trace the source of the virus.

  Sakoba Keita, director of the National Health and Security Administration of Guinea, urged the public not to panic, take preventive measures such as frequent hand washing and avoid contact with suspected cases, and promptly consult local health agencies if relevant symptoms appear.

  George Alfred Ki-Zelbo, the representative of the World Health Organization in Guinea, said that the WHO will provide necessary support for Guinea to control the Ebola epidemic.

WHO is contacting Ebola vaccine production institutions and will take all measures to deliver the vaccine to Conakry, the capital of Guinea as soon as possible.

  From 2013 to 2016, three countries in West Africa, including Guinea, had an Ebola epidemic that claimed more than 11,000 lives.
