Stuttgart (dpa) - Daimler is calling back almost 1.3 million Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the USA because of a possible problem with the automatic emergency call system.

The error could lead to the system reporting the wrong position of the vehicle in the event of an accident, according to a statement from the car manufacturer.

However, Mercedes-Benz USA was not aware of any cases in which property damage or personal injury occurred in connection with the problem, the company said.

According to the US authorities, numerous models built between 2016 and 2021 are affected by the compact A- to the S-class.

An update of the software of the emergency call system should help.
