Berlin (dpa / bb) - The successful series of the Füchse Berlin in the handball Bundesliga is torn.

After the last nine wins in a row, the Berliners lost on Saturday evening at HC Erlangen after a poor performance with 27:30 (13:15).

For the Füchse it was the third failure of the season and a major setback in the fight for a Champions League place.

The best Berlin thrower was Hans Lindberg with six goals.

A very intense game developed from the start.

The hosts in particular defended vigorously.

And that posed some problems for the foxes.

After a 2-1 lead, the Berliners ran after a deficit.

The Füchse failed again and again in the attack against Erlangen keeper Klemen Ferlin and also made some technical errors.

In the middle of the first half the deficit was already three goals (7:10).

The hosts came again and again to simple hits through quick counter-attacks and so threw the Berliners back again and again.

Goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev prevented an even higher deficit with a few saves at break.

After changing sides, the foxes acted more concentrated.

After 38 minutes, Johan Koch equalized again at 19:19.

But many mistakes continued to creep into the Berlin game and Erlangen always managed to answer when the foxes came up.

In addition, the Berliners also had bad luck with some questionable referee decisions, including the red card for Lasse Andersson in the final phase.
