Saarbrücken (dpa) - According to a survey, the well-being and mental health of people in Germany are increasingly suffering from the lockdown effects - more than in the course of the measures in spring.

This is the interim result of researchers from Saarland University, who have been studying the psychological and social consequences of the pandemic for a year.

1500 women and men regularly take part in the surveys for the analysis “Everything different?”.

The company's assessment has changed "drastically," said research group leader Dorota Reis of the German Press Agency in Saarbrücken.

While the participants initially reported that society was moving closer together, they now assessed the behavior as “rather selfish and drifting apart”.

"Life satisfaction has decreased significantly, worries, stress and depression have increased," said Reis.

In spring, after the easing, there was an improvement quite quickly.

"We don't yet know whether it will be the same this time."

The study is about what concerns people in the Corona crisis, how they cope with their everyday lives and how relationships with other people are changing.

In the next few months it will also be investigated whether the pandemic has different effects on different groups of people and how mood and personality develop over the long term.
