Halle (dpa) - The handball players of SV Union Halle-Neustadt have suffered a setback in the fight to stay in the league.

Against the Bundesliga third-bottom Frisch Auf Göppingen, the promoted team lost his home game on Saturday with 24:27 (14:14).

This means that the lead over the first relegation place for Jan-Henning Himborn's protégés has melted from six to four points.

Romy Morf-Bachmann (6), Anja Brugger and Iris Andjic (5 each) had the largest share in the guests' third success of the season.

Helena Mikkelsen (9/2) and Swantje Heimburg (5/2) scored the most goals for Halle.

After a slight start, the indoor women found their rhythm and after a quarter of an hour had fought for a 9: 5 lead.

But then the thread broke at SV Union.

Shortly before the break, Göppingen took the lead with 14:13.

After the break, Halle was ahead at 19:18 (40th) for the first and last time in the second half and could hope for the fourth win of the season at least until 23:23 (52nd).

But in the last eight minutes the hosts showed their nerve and made blatant mistakes in attack.
