Robert Lindman is originally from Vingåker but today lives in the country, between Katrineholm and Östergötland Rejmyre.

He is the father of four children and has blood cancer, leukemia.

A very serious disease where he needs a stem cell donor to be able to do a transplant.

Appealed on social media - got donor

In a post on Facebook, which was shared thousands of times, he appealed for people to register as donors to the Tobias Register.

And this week he received the positive message.

- It was of course a liberating feeling to know that you now at least get a chance to defeat the disease, because without a donor it would not have been possible, says Robert and continues:

- You get so reduced by the chemotherapy treatment that unfortunately there was no power for a small victory dance, but it was nice to be able to inform everyone in the area that it is now ready with a donor.

Transplant in March

After Robert undergoes the fourth chemotherapy treatment, there will be a short break before a fifth treatment is started to prepare him for the transplant at the end of March.

However, it is two really critical years after the transplant where patients in Robert's age range at least have a greater chance of survival than the opposite.

- But anything can happen, so the worst period in the fight against disease is ahead of me.

But since I now have a donor, I have been given a chance that I definitely intend to take.

40,000 new registrations

The Tobias Register's press officer Michaela Stany says that almost 40,000 new registrations have been added to the register after Robert Lindman went out with his appeal on social media.

- We are so grateful.

It is one to two Robert a day who falls ill in Sweden.

But now it is important that those who signed up also send back the tops in their test kits, so they are registered.

Around 30 percent do not.

It is important that you are willing to stand up as a donor, she says.
