The Myanmar military, which caused the coup, has halted the civil protection law, which made it impossible to arrest citizens without court permission.

According to Reuters and others, the Myanmar military ministry said on the 13th local time that Articles 5, 7 and 8 of the Civil Protection Act for Personal Freedom and Security will be suspended.

The provisions of the law, which have ceased to be in effect, stipulate that a court's permission must be obtained when detaining a citizen for more than 24 hours or seizing and searching an individual's residence.

Myanmar's military government initiated a coup on the 1st, claiming that serious misconduct took place in the general elections in November last year, but claimed that the government did not properly investigate it.

The military department, held by Supreme Commander Min Aung Hlaing, has detained senior government officials, including state advisor Aung San Suu Kyi and President Won Min.
