Accused of "inciting insurgency", Donald Trump was the subject of a second impeachment trial.

For lack of a sufficient number of votes in the Senate, he was acquitted on Saturday.

Former US President Donald Trump was acquitted on Saturday by the US Senate on charges of "inciting insurgency" following the violence on Capitol Hill on January 6.

Fifty-seven senators voted for a guilty verdict and 43 against.

The two-thirds majority required for conviction has therefore not been reached.
