Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The number of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week has fallen below the 50 mark in the southwest.

On Saturday, the so-called seven-day incidence nationwide was 48.6.

According to the State Health Office (as of 4:00 p.m.), 779 new infections have been reported since the previous day.

The number of confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic rose to 305,729. 24 other people died of or in connection with Sars-CoV-2.

The authority now counts 7,714 deaths.

According to estimates, 280,390 people (plus 1,527) are considered to have recovered.

20 urban and rural districts are still above the 50 mark.

The Ministry of Social Affairs had obliged cities and counties with an incidence over 50 to issue exit restrictions between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

At least 14 had already done so on Friday.

According to the intensive care registry of the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (Divi), 280 Covid 19 patients were in intensive care units in Baden-Württemberg on Friday, 156 of them were artificially ventilated - that's almost 57 percent.

Of the 2426 available intensive care beds, 2048 were occupied.

More than 320,000 people in Baden-Württemberg have now been vaccinated against Corona for the first time.

The number of those who have already received a second vaccination rose to more than 142,000, as the office announced.
