Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The collective bargaining for the metal and electrical industry in the southwest will go into the third round on February 25th.

Both sides had agreed on this, IG Metall announced on Friday.

After the second round in mid-January, the employer and the union initially split up without a new date.

Since then, however, there have been at least explorations in a small circle, it said.

IG Metall district manager Roman Zitzelsberger threatened again on Friday with warning strikes from March 2nd.

"In the two previous rounds, Südwestmetall has only dealt with the past and refused to talk about the future," he said.

"As long as that does not change, a conflict is inevitable after the end of the peace obligation."

IG Metall is demanding, among other things, four percent more money - either in the form of wage increases or as at least partial compensation if a company cuts working hours in a crisis.

Südwestmetall categorically rejects this and in turn calls for special collective bargaining regulations to be deleted or reduced.

At that point he still had no signal from the union - "But it would be time for the signal to come," said Südwestmetall boss Wilfried Porth a few days ago.

Before that, he did not want to go into IG Metall's four percent demand.
