This was stated during a briefing by the head of the press service of the US State Department Ned Price.

According to him, the US authorities "continue to monitor activities to complete the construction or certification of the pipeline."

Price added that if such activity "takes place," the United States "will decide whether the sanctions are applicable or not."

“However, I would add that sanctions are just one of many important instruments.

We will work closely with our allies and partners to strengthen Europe's energy security and take precautions against the predatory behavior we warned about, ”TASS quoted him as saying.

Price also said that the US does not rule out new measures against Russia for "human rights violations."
