Samsung Galaxy Buds: The ear buds are so comfortable

Galaxy Buds are suitable for all those who rely on wireless headphones - but for whom over-ear headphones are out of the question for ergonomic or practical reasons, but also don't want in-ear headphones.

The difference between earbuds and in-ears: In-ear headphones are worn directly in the ear canal - i.e. plugged into the ear.

Ear buds, on the other hand, stick to the outer ear.

Many find the wearing comfort more pleasant than that of in-ear models.

The Galaxy Buds and their successors, the Galaxy Buds + (pronounced Galaxy Buds Plus), Galaxy Buds Live and Galaxy Buds Pro dampen ambient noise thanks to their fit and thus ensure relatively undisturbed music enjoyment even in louder environments.

The ambient mode can optionally be activated via the app.

You can hear important announcements or other immediate voices without having to take the earbuds out of your ears.

Galaxy Buds Pro: The latest headphone model from Samsung

display

The Galaxy Buds Pro * have been on the market since the beginning of 2021.

In many ways, Samsung has optimized the capabilities of their predecessor models in the new headphones.

For example with optics.

The Pro headphones take up the curved fit of the Galaxy Buds and Galaxy Buds Plus, but stand out with their highly polished exterior.

What is completely new: Compared to the other devices from the Galaxy Buds series, the Galaxy Buds Pro are protected against water according to IPX7.

The manufacturers have not only tinkered with the design but also with the wearing comfort.

Built-in air channels are used to equalize pressure in the ear so that the Pro headphones are as comfortable as possible.

The Galaxy Buds Pro also shine when it comes to battery life.

Samsung states that just 5 minutes in the charging case are enough to listen to music, make calls and much more with the Pro devices for an hour.

In total, you can use the headphones for 18 hours with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), or even 28 hours without ANC, before the charging case itself has to be recharged.

Galaxy Buds Live

A year ago, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Buds Live *.

Visually, they differ visibly from the two previous models.

Thanks to their curved shape, they nestle against the lower part of the auricles without having to be plugged into the ear canals like other buds.

Another eye-catcher is the glossy finish on the back, which gives the headphones a chic metallic look.

The battery life of the earphones can't quite keep up with the Galaxy Buds +, but the charging case can help.

Like the Plus model, the new Buds have three microphones and a two-way dynamic loudspeaker.

Active noise suppression (ANC) is particularly practical for everyday use, as it reduces disruptive background noise without suppressing important information.

Samsung Galaxy Buds or Galaxy Buds Plus?

Even if Samsung has already established newer models on the market with the Galaxy Buds Plus, Live and Pro: The regular Galaxy Buds are also still regularly available in stores.

There is no visual difference between the two classic models.

However, there are several points that make the Galaxy Buds + the logical choice when compared to the Galaxy Buds.

Difference one: the battery life

The first big advantage of the new model: The battery life is significantly longer with the Galaxy Buds +.

While the original Galaxy Buds run an average of just over six hours on one charge, the Galaxy Buds + last for over eleven hours.

Both come in a handy charging case that fits in any trouser pocket and has a battery boost for another charge.

Inductive charging is also possible with both models.

Difference number two: microphones

Another major difference is that the Galaxy Buds + have a third microphone (the regular Galaxy Buds only have two).

If you want to use the earbuds as a headset for wireless phone calls, you get a much better and natural sound quality and voice reproduction.

The sound quality of the speakers has also been improved.

The relatively small price difference of currently around 20 euros between the two Galaxy Buds generations makes the Galaxy Buds + * a clearly better choice.

Control the sound yourself

Of course: The most important thing about headphones is and remains the sound - and that is always subjective.

What one person perceives as transparent and realistic may sound too thin for the other.

With the Galaxy Buds you therefore have the option of adjusting the sound image yourself via the app according to your ideas - and, for example, increasing the bass a little to make the overall image sound a little more powerful.

Are the Galaxy Buds waterproof?

On rainy days you should be careful with the Galaxy Buds (as well as the Galaxy Buds + and the Galaxy Buds Live) - and you definitely shouldn't drop them into the water.

The headphones are not waterproof.

So you should definitely not expose the Galaxy Buds to liquids, otherwise you risk water damage.

You should also be careful when doing sports - sweat on the headphones can have a negative impact on functionality and lead to corrosion.

If you do sports with the headphones, you should definitely clean them afterwards before putting them back in the charging case.

AirPods vs Galaxy Buds:

The Galaxy Buds + are definitely an alternative to Apple's popular AirPods.

They can be easily connected to an iPhone.

Of course, you can also easily connect the Galaxy Buds (via Bluetooth) to your laptop or computer.

However, those who rely on real noise canceling - ANC, in which noises are "faded out" by a generated counter sound - will only find this option with the (more expensive) AirPods Pro * or the new Galaxy Buds Live.
