Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - With a guitar, hat and three burning candles in the plenary hall of the state parliament, the member of parliament Jochen Klenner (CDU) intoned a song by the Cologne band “Brings”.

Together with three colleagues he published the video to old women on the Internet.

According to a spokesman, the state parliament administration did not know anything about the shoot, but is carnival-tolerant.

"I sing Alaaf, maybe e beßje quieter", in High German "we sing Alaaf, maybe a little quieter" is the name of the current "Brings" song that addresses the corona pandemic.

“The fact that the carnival as we know it is canceled this year hurts the people and also many of us MPs.

We wanted to make everyone who has carnival in their hearts a little joy with this video and we have already had a lot of positive reactions on social media, ”Klenner told the dpa on Friday.

He plays the quiet song in the video in the state parliament and sings to it.

The CDU MPs Angela Erwin, Romina Plonsker and Florian Braun wave colorful scarves and light candles.

"It is the really hot time in North Rhine-Westphalia, and the state parliament administration can welcome the fact that a light is shining despite the dark days of the pandemic," said a spokesman for dpa on Friday.

The state parliament's fire protection regulations include “that candles must not burn unattended, this requirement seems to have been met when the video was created”.

And: "Even if the administration didn't know anything about the video shoot, in this case we like to say Helau and Alaaf."
