Since the turn of the year alone, about thirty children have been cared for for MIS-C, Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children associated with COVID-19, by Astrid Lindgren's pediatric rheumatologist.

MIS-C is a very unusual life-threatening sequelae of covid-19, in which the body suffers from a hyper-inflammation and the immune system becomes overactivated.

Even in the child intensive care unit, the situation is strained as many of the children's hospital's employees are still on loan to Karolinska's adult wards.
