Hannover (dpa) - Hannover 96 hardly makes any progress in the promotion race of the 2nd Bundesliga.

The team of coach Kenan Kocak had to be content with a 0-0 in the home game against SC Paderborn and are in fifth place with six points behind the relegation place before the Saturday games.

Although the Lower Saxony did not lose for the third time in a row on Friday evening, a draw is not enough in view of the demand for catching up.

Paderborn is still in the middle of the table and will probably have nothing to do with promotion or relegation this season.

In the first 45 minutes, the guests had a good chance of taking the lead.

After the break, Hannover was initially better in the freezing cold, but also missed good opportunities.

The draw was overall fair.
