Greifswald (dpa / mv) - Greifswald blocks a path with construction fences to protect against wild boar rot.

In the area in the Eldena district, two streams with their newcomers had settled in the immediate vicinity of residential buildings, the city announced on Friday.

"The risk is too great that people will be harmed," said Mayor Stefan Fassbinder (Greens).

The closure should take place on Friday morning.

The access to the houses should therefore remain free.

The city appealed to residents not to feed animals such as birds or cats outside.

Leftovers are found food for wild boars.

According to the city's wildlife manager, an estimated 70 to 100 wild boars live in the city area.

In mid-January, the city had already warned of another gang between a garage complex and a sports hall in the city area and asked people to avoid the area.

In the next days and weeks, the animals will be disturbed several times in order to displace them into the outer areas.
