Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - Third division soccer team KFC Uerdingen will be deducted three points in the current season because of the application to open insolvency proceedings.

The game committee of the German Football Association followed the game rules, which provide for a corresponding penalty.

The German Football Association announced on Friday.

The decision is not yet final.

The club can appeal within one week.

Normally the regulations in the 3rd division even provide for a deduction of nine points.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, an exception is currently in effect, which expires at the end of the season.

Last season there were even no point deductions in bankruptcy proceedings, from which 1. FC Kaiserslautern benefited.

According to the statutes, the point deduction is immediately taken into account in the table.

Uerdingen now has 24 points in the 3rd division.

The Krefeld Club recently introduced a new investor.

After the departure of President Mikhail Ponomarew, the Noah Company from Armenia takes over the shares.
