Würzburg / Weißenfels (dpa / lby) - The Bundesliga game of the basketball players from s.Oliver Würzburg at Syntainics MBC from Weißenfels has been canceled due to the corona.

Both clubs announced this on Thursday.

The game was scheduled for Friday (7 p.m.).

According to the Würzburger, it could not be finally clarified by Thursday whether the corona test of one of their players was actually a positive result.

The player is symptom-free and is still in quarantine at home.

"After our player was tested negative several times after the positive test result, we continue to assume that it is a mix-up or a false positive result," explained Managing Director Steffen Liebler.

For the rest of the team and the coaches from s.Oliver Würzburg, the Würzburg health department ordered a so-called cohort quarantine until February 22nd.

This means that players and coaches are only allowed to stay in their own apartment or in the training center and commute between these two locations.

Corona rapid tests must be carried out on all those involved before each training session.

"Whether the home game against league leaders MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg can take place on Sunday is still open and depends on the result of the DNA test of the player concerned," it said.
