At around 4 a.m., a fire broke out in a building in the 11th arrondissement of Paris.

Two people died, four others were injured: two slightly and two others are in absolute urgency.

Two people died and two others were seriously injured Thursday morning in a fire in a building in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, firefighters said.

The disaster broke out around 4 a.m. on the 5th floor of a building which has six Boulevard Voltaire, said a spokesperson for the Paris Fire Brigade (BSPP).

According to information gathered by Europe 1, the cause of the incident could be a badly extinguished cigarette, according to statements by the occupant of an apartment on the 5th floor, from which the fire started.

Two people were killed in the fire, and two seriously injured others were evacuated to hospitals.

Firefighters also "saved 5 people" and helped evacuate around 30 in total, BSPP said.

115 firefighters were dispatched to the scene, and the fire was extinguished within an hour, we learned.

The investigation into the origin of the fire, which remained unknown at this stage, was entrusted to the judicial police.
