Mainz (AP) - Mainz trainer Bo Svensson does not consider relegation in the Bundesliga to be "the most important question".

The 41-year-old Dane answered this in an interview with the “Allgemeine Zeitung” (Thursday) when asked why FSV Mainz 05 remained first class.

“It's an important issue, yes, but more important is that we act on and off the pitch in the way that we stand behind,” said Svensson.

If you deviate from this path, “we probably won't make it”.

The Rheinhessen currently occupy 17th place with 13 points, the relegation place is four points away.

Since Svensson took office at the beginning of January, Mainz has already collected seven points in Dortmund (1: 1), against Leipzig (3: 2) and Union Berlin (1: 0).

The club had previously parted ways with coaches Achim Beierlorzer and Jan-Moritz Lichte this season.

Svensson's contract in Mainz is valid until 2024 and also in the 2nd Bundesliga.
