Mühldorf am Inn (dpa / lby) - After a fatal traffic accident in Mühldorf am Inn in Upper Bavaria, the criminal police have started investigations into suspected illegal car racing.

"Suspicions have arisen", according to which the death of a 16-year-old youth was caused by an illegal car race, as the police announced on Thursday.

Last Friday, the youngster was hit by a car while crossing a traffic light and killed.

The police are now checking whether the accident was preceded by a car race and whether the victim had crossed a red light.

Judicial rulings led to house searches on Wednesday in which the police seized storage media and a car.

The police had previously seized the car of the 21-year-old driver who ran over the 16-year-old.
