Augsburg (dpa / lby) - In nursing homes of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) in Swabia, according to a newspaper report, illegal vaccinations should have occurred.

As the "Augsburger Allgemeine" reports, information in Augsburg AWO homes is said to have been manipulated in such a way that two life partners received vaccinations from home managers.

The two people affected were reported as employees, although they did not work in the facilities.

From the Swabian AWO district association, no statement was initially received on Thursday.

The association announced that there would be a statement later in the day.

The chairman of the AWO regional association made it clear that this was not acceptable.

If vaccinations were obtained by fraud in the described manner, he disapproved, said AWO boss Thomas Beyer.

"I expect that in the case of vaccinations in AWO homes, in cooperation with the responsible vaccination doctors, the regulations will be complied with in every way."

In the past few days it became known that high-ranking local politicians and the Augsburg Bishop Bertram Meier had already been vaccinated.

The diocese justified this with the fact that the bishop worked as a pastor in nursing homes and was thus to be regarded as the staff of the homes.

The politicians from northern Swabia said they had been asked if they wanted to be vaccinated at short notice after vaccination doses were left over.
