Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Following a decision by the federal and state governments, the corona lockdown will be extended until March 7, and thus until shortly before the state elections in Baden-Württemberg.

Since the interventions are extensive, the state parliament wants to have a say.

The MPs therefore come together today for a new special meeting to debate the resolutions of the federal-state switchboard.

There should be two exceptions to the lockdown: After the carnival holidays, daycare centers and primary schools are to be gradually reopened on February 22nd, said Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) on Wednesday evening.

The prerequisite is that the number of infections allows this.

Now education minister Susanne Eisenmann (CDU) has to explain how the opening should work.

There is also another relaxation nationwide: Hairdressers are allowed to reopen from March 1st.

Kretschmann appealed for understanding: "Unfortunately, more is not responsible at the moment."

Even if the number of infections in the southwest is at the nationwide lowest level, the highly contagious virus mutations threatened to undo this success again.

It remained unclear how restaurants, hotels, museums, clubs, theaters and concert halls as well as amateur sports should continue.

Kretschmann said that only when there were only 35 stable infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days, further easing would come into question.

From his point of view, a fixed step-by-step plan would not help anyone.

"There are always developments that nobody can foresee."
