The current Swedish drug legislation will be evaluated, following a decision last year.

But you will not look at the part concerning the ban on using drugs for your own use.

- There are many other essential parts we can look at besides that.

For example, how care and treatment works, says Kristina Nilsson (S), vice chair of the social committee.

"Taken by police when they call an ambulance"

The Swedish Public Health Agency has proposed that decriminalization of own use of drugs should be included in the investigation and the Swedish Association for Addiction Medicine has criticized that the issue is not addressed.

In "Sweden meets", professor of psychiatry Markus Heilig emphasized that current legislation stands in the way of getting more people to seek care for their addiction.

- It is not so good to get people into treatment when they risk being taken by the police when they call for an ambulance, says Markus Heilig in Sweden meet.

In the next few weeks, the Norwegian government is expected to make a decision to decriminalize drug use.

Kristina Nilsson (S) thinks it will be interesting to follow the development.

- We stand for what we believe in.

All policies may need to be reconsidered, but we are not there yet.
