Voice phishing crime damage has been steadily increasing over the past five years, and middle-aged people in their 40s and 50s who have a high level of economic knowledge due to vigorous consumption activities are surprisingly found to be the most vulnerable to voice phishing crimes.



According to the data submitted by the National Police Agency today (11th) by Rep. Do-eup Kim, a member of the National Assembly Legislative and Judicial Committee, the amount of damage from voice phishing was KRW 146.8 billion in 2016, KRW 244.7 billion in 2017, KRW 40.4 billion in 2018, and 6 It showed an increase of 139.8 billion won and 700 billion won last year.



The average amount of damage per incident also rose sharply, from 8.66 million won in 2016 to 18.18 million won in 2017, 11.38 million won in 2018, 16.98 million won in 2019, and 22.09 million won last year.



When looking at victims by age group, the middle-aged, such as 50s (29%) and 40s (24%), accounted for the largest proportion.



This was followed by those in their 20s or younger (17%), in their 30s (14%), in their 60s (13%), and in their 70s or older (3%).
