Erfurt (dpa / th) - Since the vaccination campaign began on December 27, almost 74,000 people in Thuringia have received a vaccination against the coronavirus.

With a vaccine share of 3.4 percent of the population, Thuringia is above the national average of 2.9 percent (data from the Robert Koch Institute: February 10), as the Ministry of Health announced on Thursday.

Almost 29,000 people have already received their second dose of vaccine.

After the manufacturer Biontech had delivered 17,500 new vaccination doses to Thuringia on Wednesday and further deliveries had been promised, according to the ministry, vaccination appointments for people over 80 can start again.

From Friday (8.00 a.m.) online booking of vaccination appointments should be possible again via the Thuringian vaccination portal (www.impfen-thueringen.de).

Alternatively, vaccination appointments should also be able to be arranged via the telephone hotline 03643/49 50 49 0.

From Wednesday to Thursday, the number of new infections with the corona virus increased by 323 to 69 497 since the pandemic began.

An additional 32 deaths have been counted since Wednesday, the total number is now 2464. According to estimates, around 61,900 people in Thuringia are considered to have recovered.

The value of infections registered per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days was 105.6.
