In an interview with the Izvestia newspaper, she said that the supply of bananas from Ecuador to Russia is delayed by an average of one and a half weeks due to problems with logistics.

“In winter, there is such a thing as putting the holds on heating.

That is, the lid opens, and people begin to throw boxes of bananas onto pallets.

But at -20 ˚С the banana will "die" in an hour.

Therefore, the hour is unloaded, then the lids are closed and the hold is warmed up, ”she explained.

According to her, because of this, the terms of bulk vessels are increasing.

As noted by Eremeeva, in connection with such a situation, prices did increase somewhat for spot delivery, but at the same time, most networks operate on annual contracts, and their prices remain unchanged regardless of the season.

Earlier, Kommersant reported that Russian retail chains encountered difficulties in purchasing bananas.

The poor harvest in Ecuador, high demand and supply delays have led to a shortage of bananas and an increase in wholesale prices of nearly 40%.
