A study found that if the former U.S. President Trump's coping with Corona 19 had been different, it would have reduced the number of deaths in the United States by 40%.

On the 10th of local time, the Guardian and the Washington Post reported in Lancet, a scientific journal, that a committee formed to analyze the Trump administration's health policy analyzed the Trump administration's response to COVID-19.

The gist of the report is that former President Trump overlooked the severity of Corona 19, reorganized health insurance policies, and reduced the enrollment rate of low-income families, resulting in weak public health.

The Lancet Committee analyzed that 160,000 people would not have died if the United States had responded to Corona 19 at the level of the G7 country.

The committee also noted that if the Trump administration's public health policy had been different, assuming that the U.S. life expectancy in 2018 was close to the G7 national average, 461,000 deaths would not have died.

The Commission's report compared the mortality rates of the G7 countries outside the United States to determine how much COVID-19 deaths could be reduced in the United States.

In addition to the problems of former President Trump, the Lancet Committee cited the lack of well-established public health infrastructure in the United States as a reason that the pandemic worsened.

In 2002-2019, the US public health budget fell from 3.21% to 2.45%, half that of Canada and the UK.
