Kiel (dpa / lno) - For Schleswig-Holstein's elementary school students there should be regular classes again from February 22nd in the corona pandemic.

"We have a positive trend in the number of infections in Schleswig-Holstein," said Prime Minister Daniel Günther (CDU) on Wednesday evening as a justification.

In addition, the daycare centers are to switch from emergency to regular operation on February 22nd.

According to the plans of the state government, the prerequisite for this opening step is an incidence of well below 100 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days.

Therefore, the opening - as of today - does not apply to the Duchy of Lauenburg and Pinneberg and the independent cities of Flensburg and Lübeck, said Günther.

"We will look very carefully at the infection situation there."

On Monday, the state government will finally decide where regular operations in elementary schools and daycare centers will not be possible from February 22nd.

Günther announced a “real test regime” for schools and daycare centers.

"Wherever we cannot answer for the opening, it is of course still the case that parents do not have to pay daycare fees," said Günther.

In grades five and six at secondary schools, there will only be distance teaching in the near future.

The heads of government of the federal and state levels agreed on Wednesday to extend the current lockdown with largely closed schools, shops, restaurants and leisure facilities until March 7th.

So far this is only valid until Sunday.

According to the resolution, the federal states can decide for themselves whether to open schools within the framework of their cultural sovereignty.

The approximately 100,000 primary school students in Schleswig-Holstein were last taught in schools before Christmas.

Since then there has only been distance learning.

There was also good news for hairdressers: Even in the north, if hygiene rules are strictly observed, they can reopen as early as March 1st, as Günther announced on the evening after consultations with the Jamaica coalition.

The state parliament should already discuss the measures announced by Günther on Wednesday.

In the north, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days on Wednesday was 60.2 after 60.4 one day earlier, according to data from the state government.

The target is less than 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days.
