Potsdam (dpa / bb) - The number of new infections with the corona virus is declining in Brandenburg.

The health authorities reported 356 cases, as the Ministry of Health announced in Potsdam on Wednesday.

A week ago, 540 new infections were added.

The number of infections per 100,000 inhabitants in one week was around 80 on Wednesday. On Tuesday the value was around 87, a week ago it was around 112. On Wednesday, 48 new deaths related to Covid 19 were added.

In the meantime, fewer corona patients have to be treated in hospitals: The Ministry of Health stated their number as 749, while it was 774 on Tuesday and 863 a week ago.

Since the end of December, 113 128 Brandenburgers have received a corona vaccination, 33 462 of which have already received the necessary second vaccination.

The ministry is checking whether appointments can also be made on the Internet and whether people over 80 can be contacted by letter about the vaccination.

The so-called seven-day incidence, which plays an important role in advising the federal and state governments on the corona rules, is also falling in the circles most affected.

The previous hotspot, the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district, reached a level of 160 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in one week after just under 183 on Tuesday.

The Prignitz district with around 148 and the Spree-Neisse district with around 121 are also above a value of 100.
