Wiesbaden / Berlin (dpa / lhe) - Hesse's deputy FDP leader Bettina Stark-Watzinger has massively criticized the pace of the payment of corona aid to the economy.

"Just 2.65 percent of the promised December aid has been paid out in Hesse," said the parliamentary manager of the FDP parliamentary group on Wednesday of the German press agency.

She relied on information from the Federal Ministry of Economics.

The promised quick help for the business closings would only reach the affected companies at a snail's pace weeks and months later.

“They are running out of their last reserves,” warned Stark-Watzinger.

"In addition, they lack the perspective of how and when to continue."

Those affected would still have to pay rent and bear their costs, but they had not received any income for weeks.

The "existence-threatening rescue policy" by the federal and state governments is increasingly demotivating.

"We have to be careful that the corona crisis does not turn into a severe economic crisis because generously announced aid does not arrive," emphasized the FDP politician.

The federal government and the state of Hesse would have to speed up the payment of the November and December aid as well as the bridging aid III, which one could not even apply for due to a lack of software.

In addition, the tax loss carry-back must be made more generous.

The December aid is aimed at companies, the self-employed and also associations that were particularly hard hit by the closings in December.

You can receive grants of up to 75 percent of December 2019 sales.

The federal government provides the funds for aid.

The federal states are responsible for processing, checking and paying out applications.
