Documentary: Trump considers Putin the only man in the world who can destroy America

A new documentary revealed that former US President Donald Trump lost his nerve and turned red when his assistant told him that Vladimir Putin was on the line with the White House, but left him stuck on the line and did not speak to him.

Putin had called Trump during a meeting with former British Prime Minister Theresa May, who was on a visit to Washington days after his inauguration in January 2017.

According to the documentary broadcast on the BBC today, Wednesday, the anger appeared at Trump when White House aides told him that Putin wanted to speak to him on the phone.

Ten Downing Street chief of staff at the time, Fiona MacLeod Hillen, described the moment Trump lost his temper, saying, "Trump's color at that moment was not orange but red."

"He turned angry, and said: Why are you telling me that Vladimir Putin is on the line with the White House, and why are you telling me now during our lunch?" And McLeod Hill added.

"I felt something strange completely dominated the entire lunch table and I felt my toes writhing."

Moments before Putin's call, May had asked Trump whether or not he had spoken to Putin, because Trump had mentioned him during his 2016 election campaign.

The British ambassador to the United States at the time, Kim Darroch, said that she “wanted to talk to him (Trump) about Putin,” because “she heard him say some positive things about his potential relationship with Putin during the campaign.” Darroch adds: “She wanted me to tell him about Putin. Putin's way of thinking. "

Trump, who was visibly angry about Putin's call to the White House, told May, "Vladimir Putin is the only man in the world who can destroy the United States, so I didn't answer his call."

The BBC documentary is a three-part series written by award-winning documentary filmmaker Norma Percy and covers the Trump years in the White House.
