Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - Schools, daycare centers, hairdressing salons and most shops in Germany have been closed for nine weeks.

In view of the declining number of infections and dwindling reserves, calls from the trades to relax the strict restrictions are getting louder - also in Saxony-Anhalt, which is currently recording many infections in a national comparison.

The sectors of body-hugging services, such as hairdressers, beauticians and nail salons, are raising particular hopes.

On Tuesday, the chambers of crafts from Magdeburg and Halle called on the state government again to stand up for an opening.

"We call on Prime Minister Haseloff to assert himself at the Prime Minister's Conference on Wednesday and to allow companies to work again from February 15, 2021," said the President of the Halle Chamber of Crafts, Thomas Keindorf.

The industry has already developed good hygiene concepts, said the President of the Magdeburg Chamber of Crafts, Hagen Mauer.

"We are not aware of any company that has become a source of infection since the beginning of the pandemic," said Mauer.

"The hair and toenails grow, however, so that more and more customers are pushing for appointments."

Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU) has spoken out in favor of opening up the prospect of hairdressers several times since the last consultations by the federal and state governments.

For this he will work in the deliberations on Wednesday, it said from the state chancellery.

Economics Minister Armin Willingmann (SPD) also called for companies to be given a clear perspective.

"That can and must not be specific data at the moment, but clear conditions for reopening," he told the German press agency.

"We can all work towards that."

Without a concrete prospect of opening the government will lose support for the corona policy, warned Willingmann.

Therefore, other industries also need a perspective.

"Even in a boutique you can organize processes and hygiene standards like in a bookstore".

Politicians must also consider new solutions.

"Before we leave everything closed, we should consider creative solutions to allow more economy in the pandemic and to distribute the burden of the lockdown more fairly," demanded the social democrat.

His ministry is currently working on a proposal for a step-by-step plan for gradual opening based on values such as the number of infections per week and 100,000 inhabitants, the reproduction factor or the utilization of the intensive care units.

An intermediate step on the way out of the lockdown could also be, for example, a changeover model in which the different industries alternately open.

In this way, a large run on the inner cities can be avoided.

In any case, it is important to have a nationwide regulation in order to avoid shopping tourism between the federal states.

When the heads of government negotiate, the reopening of schools and daycare centers should also be discussed.

Saxony-Anhalt announced last week that schools would reopen from March, provided that the number of infections allows.

Recently, the negotiations between the federal government and the federal states had often dragged on for hours.

It was therefore not foreseeable when there would be a result.

Haseloff announced a press conference for the early evening, and the Prime Minister also wanted to inform the members of the state government about the results that evening.

On Thursday, the cabinet should then resolve the agreement.

The ministers do not have much time either - the currently valid state ordinance expires on Sunday.
