Norway won its third consecutive world title in a mixed relay on Wednesday at the opening of the Biathlon Worlds in Pokljuka (Slovenia), while France could only take fifth place.

The Norwegian quartet (Laegreid, Johannes Boe, Eckhoff, Roeiseland), made up of the first two in the general classification of the World Cup in men and in women, beat Austria (Komatz, Eder, Zdouc, Hauser) and the Sweden (Samuelsson, Ponsiluoma, Persson, Hanna Oeberg).

France (Émilien Jacquelin, Quentin Fillon-Maillet, Anaïs Chevalier-Bouchet, Julia Simon), long at the forefront, had to settle for fifth position after seeing their podium hopes soar after the conceded penalty lap by Anaïs Chevalier-Bouchet in his standing shot.
