Another 700,000 hens will be killed after the large outbreak of bird flu in Småland.

1.3 million chickens have already been killed at facilities in Mönsterås, which is one of Sweden's largest egg producers.

The most recently affected stable, which belongs to the same companies, is about a kilometer away from the other two and it is still unclear how the infection could have spread there.

- It is an extensive outbreak, and we have a difficult situation throughout Europe, says the Swedish Board of Agriculture's chief veterinarian Håkan Henrikson to Barometern.
