A
63-year
-old man admitted with
Covid-19
on the sixth floor of
the Puerta del Mar Hospital in Cádiz
has set the mattress on fire in his room to take advantage of the tumult and escape from the hospital.
The man, who apparently is not with his full mental faculties, has set fire to his mattress with hydroalcoholic gel and has been intercepted on the spot by the
National Police
agents
displaced to the hospital and they have proceeded to arrest him.

Several indicative of the
Citizen Security Brigade
traveled to the place

who, after putting on the PPE suits, carried out a search for the suspect through the health center.
They located him on the seventh floor, arresting him as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of arson.
The fire has not caused personal injury.
Visible from the street, the firefighters have already controlled it, although it has affected an entire control -20 rooms- and the flames have set
two rooms on
fire
.
It was necessary to evacuate the patients on the sixth and seventh floors to other controls.
Currently the firefighters are evaluating the scope of it, and in case of need, the
Andalusian Health Service
has reported that there is a plant prepared at the
Hospital de San Carlos,
in the neighboring town of
San Fernando,
to receive patients from both floors.
In the health center, patients admitted with Covid-19 are distributed in controls arranged in six hospitalization floors, ranging from the fourth to the ninth.
The number of vehicles and displaced police and firefighters, as well as the smoke caused and the flames, visible from the street, alerted many pedestrians.
