The U.S. Senate voted to confirm Trump's impeachment trial is constitutional

On February 9, local time, the U.S. Senate voted 56 votes in favor and 44 votes against it confirming that the trial of former US President Trump’s impeachment case was consistent with the Constitution.

After the Senate determined that the trial was constitutional, starting at noon on February 10th local time, the House of Representatives impeachment manager and Trump lawyer team will start their own statements, each of which can last up to 16 hours.

After the two sides have finished their statements, the senator has four hours to ask questions, and the impeachment manager can also call witnesses.

According to local media reports, the debate may last until the 12th, but it may also last until next week.

According to the passed trial rules, if the trial is not over on the 13th, the Senate intends to open a hearing on the 14th (Sunday) to continue the trial of the impeachment case.

Some analysts predict that if the prosecution and the defense agree not to call witnesses, the final vote on the outcome of the trial may be held on February 14 or 15 local time.
