Mainz (dpa) - The criticized supervisory board chairman Detlev Höhne will no longer run for the post at FSV Mainz 05.
"I have decided to listen to my wife, to give the personal and private things in life more priority and not to run for elections," said Höhne to the newspapers of the VRM group (Wednesday).
The Bundesliga club had rescheduled the general meeting that was actually planned for this week.
By the end of the electoral period, Volker Baas will take over the chairmanship of the supervisory board with immediate effect, as the club announced on Tuesday evening.
The committee agreed on the replacement of the position by mutual agreement.
Höhne had been the chairman of the supervisory body since 2017.
“After the postponed election last October, at the turn of the year I wrestled with myself for a long time whether I would run again at all.
